* I n g r e d i e n t s *
…missing quantities are up to you for this one!…
— Raw Corn on the Cob (yes, totally raw, NOT even so much as lightly steamed…although if you need to steam them, we won’t tell anyone…)
— Beefsteak Tomatoes
— Cucumbers*
— 1 bunch of Cilantro
— 1 Lime
*unpeeled if organic; peeled if inorganic
* P r e p a r a t i o n *
— 1) Shuck the corn, and lay out on what will be each person’s lunch or dinner plate.
— 2) Slice the beefsteak tomatoes into very large pieces & slice the cucumbers lengthwise into quarters, setting all sliced tomatoes & cucumbers along side the shucked ears of corn.
— 3) Chop the cilantro into large pieces, and divide among all of the plates as well.
— 4) Use a manual citrus juicer or a citrus hand juicer to squeeze the juice of the lime over everything on each plate, but concentrating most heavily on the cilantro and the corn.
— 5) Serve, and enjoy!

— I wanted to share with you a REAL raw food meal, meaning one that is more typical for a REALLY quick and simple raw food dinner. This recipe involves no machines! But I do use a knife…
— The top question type I have been getting has been about LOVE, and mainly in the sense of asking, “How do I get more love?”
— The 2nd top question type I have been getting has been all things related to CORN, yes corn…go figure! So, to ward off in advance any further “So how do you prepare your corn?” type questions, here is the answer if you haven’t figured it out already: I eat my corn 100% raw and unadulterated…not even slightly steamed!
— Regarding love, we are all an infinite field and we just come out of that…but with conditionings brought upon by us by our environments. At each of our cores, we really are all innocent. Just because many of us have been programmed with ‘negative’ and/or ‘ignorant’ things, through no faults of our own, this does not make our inner, innocent selves out to be bad…
— So we REALLY need to love OURSELVES no matter what! Take some time to sit with yourself, be it via meditation, or spending more time alone…and learn to love yourself…just do it!

1000 Calorie Diet Menu and Meal Plan
One good way to reduce weight is to lose calories. This is done by taking in fewer calories than what we usually consume. This will eventually lead to weight loss. But we should also make sure that we are giving our body the right amount of calories, else the body metabolism will sputter and may lead to unforeseen complications.
There are a lot of diet plans that offer you reduced amount of calorie intake. A 1000 calorie diet plan is one such very low calorie diet plan.Be cautioned that 1000 calories a day will be suitable for people who exercise minimally and this diet plan is only for a short time frame. This diet plan should not be continued for more than three days in a row. This is a very low level of calories diet plan so always consult your doctor before embarking on a 1000 calorie diet plan. This diet plan provides us with so few calories that it might be impossible to meet the nutritional demands of the body with this plan. This plan is generally recommended by doctors when obesity has become a threat to life itself or as a preparation for a surgery. Therefore only after you doctor approves of your plan you should follow this diet. Also make sure that you drink lots of water when following this diet plan and keep your body well-hydrated.
USDA Recommendations:
The USDA recommends the following proportions for a 1000 calorie diet so that it allows proper nutrition while also contributing to weight loss. One cup of fruits and vegetables, 3 ounces of grains, 2 ounces of meat and beans, 2 cups of milk, 3 teaspoons of oil and 165 discretionary calories of your choice as the ideal diet plan. Also drink as much water and zero calories beverages as you like to make sure that your body gets the necessary fluids.

Breakfast:
The breakfast should primarily consist of cereal and bananas. Typically you can have a cup of cereal, a cup of skimmed milk and a small size banana.
Morning Snack:
The morning snack can contain one cup of skimmed milk blended with quarter of a cup of frozen strawberries.
Lunch:
Typically the lunch is composed of sandwich and fresh fruit. 2 slices of whole wheat bread, 3 ounces of lean meat, 1 plum, lettuce, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers. You can also have chopped onions, mushrooms, olives and sprouts.
Afternoon snack:
You can enjoy any food you like but it should amount to 50 calories. Typically cottage cheese worth 50 calories can be consumed as an afternoon snack.
Dinner:
Dinner should consist of one cup of shredded lettuce, half a cup of your favorite beans, one flour tortilla shell, rice worth 75 calories and one slice of low fat mozzarella cheese.
You can have a cup of strawberries as a bedtime snack.
Herbal teas and water and zero calorie beverages should be consumed all through the day.
Sample 2:
Breakfast:
Apple oatmeal is the best nutritious and low calories breakfast that you can think of. This will also provide you with the energy that you require for the whole day. Apple oatmeal is prepared using half a cup of water, three quarters a cup of skimmed milk, 1/3 cup of oatmeal, half an apple and quarter a teaspoon of cinnamon.
Snack:
You can have a handful of the nuts of your choice but make sure that they are not salted. Typical nuts that you can consume include almonds, walnuts, brazil nuts etc..
Lunch:
A scrambled egg toast made from a large egg, a slice of whole wheat bread, one table spoon of skimmed milk and half a oz of low fat shredded cheese.
Dinner:
Dinner should consists of 2 cups of shredded lettuce, 6 cherry tomatoes, half avocado, half a cup of sliced red pepper, one thinly slice onion, one table spoon of low fat dressing and 2 oz chopped chicken.
Having said all that, 1000 calories is a very low calorie intake and should be used only as a starter for weight loss or as a cleansing diet. This diet is also recommended when you need to rebalance your digestive system after a bout of unhealthy eating. But always get the doctor or a professional health expert’s approval before starting with this diet plan. As this diet is so calorie deficit, special attention should be placed on the nutritional value of the ingredients of your diet plan to make sure that you get the proper nutrition content during the days your dieting with this diet plan.
An unhealthy body will lead to a number of complications and will not lose weight effectively. So be sure that you are consuming enough nutrients to maintain your healthy body.

In “Diet Wars,” FRONTLINE examines the great diet debate. Viewers follow FRONTLINE correspondent Steve Talbot, whose discovery that those “few extra pounds” have put him perilously close to the clinical definition of obesity prompts him to evaluate the myriad diets now available to overweight Americans.
“America has become the fattest nation on earth,” Talbot says. “About two-thirds of the American population is overweight, and of those, half are already obese. The diet industry is the visible sign of a looming public health problem.”
How did America get so fat in recent years? “Diet Wars” explores the social, cultural, and dietary factors that have led to the fattening of America, while also examining how the medical and diet industries have responded to consumers’ desire to lose weight. The documentary examines how concerns in the early 1960s that Americans were eating too much animal fat and cholesterol prompted doctors to begin recommending that patients reduce the amount of fat in their diets. The problem, some observers say, is that the low-fat recommendations failed to distinguish between the so-called “good fats” — unsaturated vegetable and fish oils — and the “bad fats” — saturated animal fats — associated with clogged arteries, heart disease, and other health problems.
“Somehow, we got this notion that, ‘Aha! If we take the fat out of foods we will be able to reduce the total caloric intake and people will be able to control their weight,’” says Tufts University Nutrition Professor Dr. Jeanne Goldberg. “And so industry got very busy making low-fat, reduced-fat, fat-free products .”
Soon, low-fat and fat-free products flooded the marketplace, as did high-profile low-fat diets like Pritikin and Ornish. In “Diet Wars,” Talbot’s search for the perfect diet takes him from a Weight Watchers pep rally — where spokeswoman Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson revs up the audience of faithful followers — to several low-fat diet centers, where proponents extol the virtues of their respective plans.
“The Pritikin Diet is basically a healthy diet. Pritikin didn’t start as a weight loss program — it started as a way to reverse heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes,” says Dr. James Kenney, chief nutritionist of the Pritikin Longevity Center. “What makes eating healthy in America difficult is that most restaurant foods — particularly fast restaurant food — is designed to make people fat and sick.”
So popular did the low-fat craze become that in 1992 the U.S. Department of Agriculture introduced its much-vaunted food pyramid guidelines that recommended Americans lay off the fat and load up on grains and cereals, which are carbohydrates.
But there was a problem. During the 1990s, despite the new guidelines and the glut of low-fat and fat-free products available, Americans got even fatter. While most experts agree that Americans’ increasingly sedentary lifestyle and fondness for fast food contributed to the nation’s growing girth, others postulate that the low-fat label misled consumers into believing that such products contained fewer calories, causing them to eat even more.
“The low-fat message was interpreted as if you had a product that was lower in fat it was good for you without thinking of calories,” says Professor Marion Nestle of New York University’s Department of Nutrition, Food Studies & Public Health. “The best example is the Snackwell phenomenon: Snackwell cookies were advertised as low-fat cookies but they had almost the same number of calories.”
Nutritionists also note that in order to make products low-fat, companies had to replace the fat with something else — usually carbohydrates.

— For those who think that me drinking green juice if I had cancer instead of getting chemo or radiation is pure quackery, then I say this: “Well, since most people are NOT getting rid of their cancer through conventional treatments & neither are many of those people getting healthy from chemo….well, drinking green juices certainly couldn’t hurt then, now could it…especially if I had already tried the conventional treatments & they had not worked…for not only would I not be damaging my healthy cells in the process of drinking that living green juice, but I would be STRENGTHENING them!”
— I may not have a bunch of fancy letters after my name, but what I do have is the LOVE…and a caring for YOU & for the TRUTH. I don’t claim to hold the golden key to Truth…but I am always driven by it & I’m always seeking it.
— One could choose to decide to simply try drinking green juices for just a month or two, to see what happens! So why not simply *try* the green juice path? To neutralize acidity, clear congestion, lose weight, and/or possibly heal oneself of cancer or diabetes like Dave did?
— Too many complex carbohydrates & animal foods + not enough live-giving fruits & vegetables from Mother Earth has essentially lowered the cellular respiration in your body…your cells literally can’t breathe & so can’t get the energy they need to function optimally.
