Okay, so i’m new to this diet weight loss stuff. And i’m 14, i am a vegetarian. (i still eat egss though)
I had a few questions concerning a diet:
firstly, i don’t know what kind of diet i should go on!? All the ones online either cost money or aren’t very specific. I like the idea of a meal plan, so if you know anything like what i’m talking about please let me know
secondly, what is the healthiest and BEST TASTING salad dressing? i dont want to make it myself, i mean the kind that i can find in a grocery store
thirdly, what kinds of vegies do you put in a salad?
lastly, if you are very healthy, can you list what you get from the grocery store? like whats your shopping list.

Which is the best Diet/ Fitness Plan book?
I want a book that’s motivating and inspiring when it comes to weight loss and getting in shape. It would be ideal if it gave an actual eating plan and workout plan along with tips on how to implement healthy habits.
I want to make clear that I don’t want a book like "The South Beach Diet" or "Weight Watchers", none of these fad diet books where you have to buy a certain kind of food…I want something that helps me change my lifestyle and nutrition in a positive way.
Any suggestions?

…guys….I’m asking for books. I’m already quite aware that a lb is 3500 cals and that in order to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you take in..
Any diet will work as long as you stick to it! It’s the going back to your old eating habits that make you gain the weight back! It sounds like you’ve figured that out & have good nutritional goals for yourself! You’ve got to change your desire eating & eat only when hungry & not eat past full! Any other reason to eat is not healthy! (bored, upset, habit, social event)
I use the website www.startyourdiet.com, it’s motivational, has all the tools I need,; graphs, charts, food diary, goal setter, motivational info (daily or you can read it al @ once- this would be the "book" you are asking about- it’s online) & a blog & memo board where hundreds of us dieters share tips, motivation & encouragement. best of all it’s free! To use ALL the tools it is $29.00 a year (i think).. soooo affordable. But you can be successful with the free tools! You put in your stats & it tells you how many calories to consume & how much exercise you need. the exercise you should do should be aerobic- it’s the only kind that burns fat. you can coose your own exercise- what you like to do. I try to do a step aerobic video 4- 5 times a week. when it was cooler i wallked for an hour 5-6 days per week (tried to). The food is based on how many calories it suggests based on the info you put in (height, weight, body type) & you are free to use any eating plan. if you use the exchange plan (food pyramid) it will tell you how much protien, fruit, veggies- etc. (protien doesn’t have to be meat
this is the most well balanced way to eat- but like i said- you’ve gotta do what will work for you. I have lost 35 pounds since May- slow and steady- but i loose more the more i exercise. i’m a mom of 3- so i don’t always do enough aerobic- but a little is better than none in my book! My plan for getting in shape and losing weight….?
Ok, I wanna use the rest of this year to really lose weight and get in shape. I’m gonna be eating fruits, vegetables, whole wheats, low fat dairies and lean protein sources (I’m a vegetarian for my own reasons, not weight loss reasons. I don’t eat fish or eggs, nor do I eat beans, chick peas or lentils cause I don’t like them
) so I eat tofu and Morning star vegetarian food and nuts and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter on my fruit, and I drink at least 3 liters of water and green tea. I’m totally cutting out soda and sugar and I’m going to watch my calories and make sure I eat no less than 1200 a day
For exercise, here’s my plan:
1. This may sound silly, but my sibling and I like to pretend we’re performing on stage like a band or something, and we just sing along to songs, but I do alot of running, jumping and dancing. It;s usually about an hour to an hour and 20 mins we do that, and I don’t jump and stuff the whole time, I gotta catch my breath a little and all…….so it’s probably around 30 – 45 minutes of that…..(it’s fun so I’m more likely to do it and not get too bored or anything) —– I do that about 5 times a week
And I’ll be doing 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, too. I plan on doing 10 minutes on my treadmill for two weeks, and then work up to 15, and then after two more weeks I’ll do 20, and so on and so forth until I can do 30 minutes straight on the treadmill. My other 25 minutes of cardio will be on my exercise bike or stair walking. I’d sprint up the stairs and walk back down, sprint up, walk down…… and then I’ll do one day of strength with things like planks, pilates, crunches, lunges, squats, etc etc.
I’ll do different types and add some more reps after a while.
I wanna lose 30 pounds and gain some muscle tone and get in pretty good shape by the end of this year. This is a lifestyle change, not just a diet plan either.
I also will be giving myself a light cheat meal once a week. Probably a skinny cow ice cream or something like that.
Sound good/possible?

I’d have to agree with the first answer..like it sounds good, but I think by the first week you’ll be lying on your bed of fatigue and daydreaming of ice cream. Eat a bit more (because it’s REALLY hard to work out when you don’t have enough energy..) and make your calorie count go up to about..1500 (at the least)-1800. Try not to go over 2000 though.
And then you say this is a lifestyle change, which I Totally believe in, but it sounds a bit too hard on your body..Maybe you should start with 3-4 days of workout and then, if you still feel like it, move up to 5.
Besides that though, I think it sounds pretty good. Esp the half of your workout that deals with the stage thing. Although I sort of think you should do a bit more strength training..like instead of the exercise bike/stair walking add in some lifting. (fat turns to muscle so you’ll lose it and become stronger.)
So yeah. I think it’ll work if you can stick to it..like you said, it’s a lifestyle change, not just some pathetic diet. Hopefully it works out for you and you lose what you want.

16 year-old girl weight loss?

That sounds good and very realistic. Nice idea about giving yourself a cheat meal. If you give things like treats ups all together your going to crave them more often and in larger quantities.
By cutting out sugar and soft drinks you’ll lose a lot of empty calories. Green tea is proven to increase the speed of your metabolism and by drinking your water your not only regulating the digestion of your food but also loosing calories because it takes energy to metabolize the liquid.
The main thing to remember here is that in order to loose weight you need to have a higher level of calories out than you put in. I used a calorie expenditure calculator to find out how many calories you need in a day. With a weight of 140, a height of 5’2 and your age being 16 you need 1650 calories just for your organs to function properly. By adding exercise you need to add even more calories. If you do 30 minutes of cardio your going to loose anywhere from 200-400 calories depending on the effort.
The planks and other core strengthening exerices will help you be toned and increase the amount of muscle you have on your body. The more muscle you have the harder your metabolism works, thus making it more efficient and faster.
Overall good plan, a couple pointers though, don’t restrict your calorie intake too fast. If your used to consuming 3000 calories in a day don’t jump down to 1000, slowly decrease by maybe 200-300 calories. 3500 calories is equal to a pound. So by even just not drinking an extra glass of milk a day, you’ll lose around 10 pounds in a month. Also, enjoy your food. If your hating what your eating you’ll get moody and quit your new plan.

Yes, a lower volume of fruit for some people at some times might be more beneficial for various reasons, but that doesn’t mean fruit itself feeds, and therefore causes cancer! WOOAHHH!

Vegan weight loss plan with menu. Vegan as a lifestyle? Your experiences:)?
I am 5’2 and about 145 pounds. My goal weight is around 115-120. I am in my early 20s. I have been vegetarian for years and recently I have been looking into the vegan diet for weight loss and as a lifestyle. I have created a menu plan for myself for this week. Keep in mind, everything on it is vegan and portion sized. Excuse my funny names for things. The chocolate crackers are vegan raw food.
Monday: (6 different meals slashes indicate new meal) Fruit salad/Nuts and some carrots/Quinoa, rest of carrots/Vegan fruit smoothie/Quinoa, salad/ Coconut yogurt with cereal
Tues:Cereal with agave and sugar free soymilk with fruit/Carrots and pineapple/2 veggie dogs with jicama/Trail mix/Veggie Turkey, Quinoa, and salad/fruit
Wed:Smoothie, Veggie patties/Chocolate crackers and nuts/Quinoa with kale chips/veggies/Frozen dinner with salad/Coconut yogurt with cereal
Thurs:Fruit salad with fake patties/Carrots and apple/Veg. chicken w/ ketchup, and Cauliflower/Trail mix/Salad with beans rice and veggie meat/fruit
Fri:Cereal with agave and sugar free soymilk/Trail mix/Boca burger w/ ketchup and fake cheese with jicama/ Fruit with dairy free yogurt/Veggie turkey and veggies/Chocolate crackers
Sat:Fruit salad with fake patties/Vegan smoothie/Salad with veggie meat and fake cheese/Veggie mix/Vegan Indian food/fruit
Sun:Cereal with agave and sugar free soymilk with fruit/Vegan smoothie/Lentil soup and salad/Nuts and veggie or fruit/Leftover vegan Indian food/Coconut yogurt with cereal
Anyway, Thats my diet plan plus 3-4 days of 30 minute cardio and wieght lifting. I am going vegan for a month and evaluating how I feel about it. How does this meal plan look? What are your experiences as a vegan? Thanks!
