Looking for an affordable, healthy diet plan*Not to Lose Weight*?
Hey everyone..
Recently, a lot of things have been messing with my stomach(Giving me Diarrhea, constipation, etc. And I eat a lot of foods that are really just, unnecessary. Fast foods, tacos, pizza, hot dogs, etc. The thing is, I’m not too knowledgeable about what foods I -need- to eat and still be healthy. So, I’f I plan on eating healthier, I’d like to have some guidelines to go by to make sure I’m getting all the proper nutrients etc.
So that’s basically my question. Do any of you know of any good websites(Or books) that can tell me how to eat healthier without starving myself of good nutrients that my body needs? I also don’t want it to break the bank. So good foods that are relatively cheap.
Again, I’m not looking for a diet that is designed for people to lose weight. I know with exercise and eating right, I can easily stay a good weight. I just want to start eating healthier on a slightly cheap budget. Thanks in advance!
Hi. The fact that you know what you want to achieve is already a good start. If you are truly serious in eating healthy and be successful on it, you can start small, and by saying that you can start with fruits. The experts’ mantra "An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away" is so true. Fruits have lots of vitamins and minerals with it, and they are so versatile and handy that you can eat them for snacks or part of your daily meals as dessert. Likewise, you can them, say, apples or oranges as they are, or you can make smoothies out of them. Vegetables, pan-fried chicken breast, and fish are also good for you and you can find more healthy recipes on http://www.yummydietfood.com/ without breaking your savings.

Eat Clean 12-Minute Italian Meal—Including How to Make the Best Broccoli Raab (Rapini)
http://hotandhealthyliving.com/2010/06/12-minute-healthy-italian-meal-watch-video-spicy-broccoli-rabe-rapini-over-quinoa-linguine-with-pecan-crumb-topping/
For the longest time I was totally intimidated by broccoli raab (rapini). This wasn’t the sort of vegetable my mom raised me on; she was really more of a “peas and carrots kinds of mom” and for most of my life I was a “peas and carrots” kind of daughter. Thinking back though, it seems I had my first bite of broccoli raab right around the time it exploded onto the restaurant scene (maybe five or six years ago?) It was love at first pleasantly pungent bite. While I couldn’t get enough of it at the restaurants, I had no idea how to cook broccoli raab at home. I had attempted to make it a few times but my efforts yielded an extremely bitter mess with a texture that just wasn’t “there” as far as restaurant-quality goes. I then became convinced (and highly suspicious) the restaurants were dousing my broccoli raab in globs of butter (as any chef can tell you butter does wonders for the taste of just about anything). Unwilling to eat tons of butter, I just sorta stopped eating broccoli raab…that is until I learned the Italian secret to cooking it fast, fabulous and healthy.
A very close family friend, Joe Riti, who also happens to be an amazing authentic Italian cook, showed me the ropes on how to prepare the most fabulous broccoli raab ever just over a year ago. I’ve been hooked ever since and I can confidently say broccoli raab is now a staple on my weekly menu. The technique is so simple (watch the video) and the results are so spectacular I can’t imagine why anyone would cook broccoli raab any other way. Best of all, once it’s cooked it is incredibly versatile! I often make an entire lunch with a heaping serving of sautéed spicy broccoli raab nestled between two slices of sprouted whole grain bread (by the way, this is an amazingly satisfying and filling lunch).
The recipe in the video is for an incredibly fast 8-ingredient (water doesn’t count!) whole foods healthy Italian meal that’s gluten-free, and dairy-free (if you want to add dairy and a 9th ingredient just add the Parmesan cheese). The whole meal takes approximately 12 minutes to prepare, start to finish. Delicious, fast-food style, healthy Italian whole foods eating doesn’t get any easier than this!

“Health Food” vs. Healthy Food — How to read labels
Do you know how to read food labels? Maybe you THOUGHT you did. Truth is, you probably don’t.
But Jeff Novick, MS, RD — of the McDougall program — does. And in his full talk he shows the 3 easy steps you MUST know if you ever buy foods at any supermarket or “health” food store.
In this online excerpt, Novick — who used to be a food service manager at Kraft Foods — exposes one of the dirty secrets major food corporations use to deceive consumers. It’s no accident labels are so confusing!
High-protein/low-carb diet proponents claim that the US started eating “low-fat” foods 20 years ago and yet still gained weight, “proving” that the low-fat diet wasn’t effective.
But that’s nonsense, as Novick demonstrates in his talk.
The foods weren’t/aren’t low-fat at all. Food companies use sleight of hand to make them appear that way.
Novick shows how to cut through the nonsense of food labeling to see what you need to see, and understand what you’re really getting.
This is an excerpt from Novick’s 80-minute talk at the VegSource 2007 Healthy Lifestyle Expo, and part of a 12-part series of top health expert presentations.
In his full fascinating and entertaining presentation, Novick teachers the “three easy rules” for cutting through the b.s. and quickly understanding food labels, to know exactly what you’re getting. After watching his talk, you’ll never look at packaged food the same!

I need a healthy diet plan – what i should be eating, when i should be excercising, what i shouldnt be eating?
monday – sunday – what i should have
When to do my excercises and when
Ok
You need to eat a large breakfast everyday full of protein and fiber. So say like 2 eggs scrambled with low fat cheese and spinach and a glass of fat free milk and some berries (or any fruit)
Have 2-3 snacks per day. Snack should be fuits, veggies, low fat dairy (yogurt or cheese), or nuts. No cookies, cakes, or candies.
Lunch should include a protein and a veggie. It can be a sandwich (no mayo!) with a small side salad or chicken and veggies or salad with tuna, etc. Use a low fat/low cal dressing or olive oil and vinegar. No creamy dressings.
Dinner should not have any carbs in it. So any rice or bread or pasta you want, make sure to have it for lunch or breakfast and make sure to include a veggie with it. Dinner should be protein and veggies only. Also, any bread, pasta, or rice you eat should be whole grain. Never white!
You also need to drink lots of water. If you are overweight, then drink half of your body weight in oz. Example: I weight 150 lbs so I drink 75 oz of water per day. No soda ever or sugary juices.
Try to stay away from fatty, fried, or fast foods.
As for exercise, you should be doing 45-60 mins of cardio 5 days a week. So, jogging, elliptical, biking, whatever.
Also, you need to incorporate stregnth training. Every other day you should do 50 squats, some type of ab exercise, push ups, and you can use hand weights for trainnig the muscles in your arms. Having muscle helps burn fat much faster.
Try not to skip meals, esp breakfast.
If you get a craving, chew gum. Good luck!♥
